~ NY Weekend highlights…
It’s the grand finale weekend at the Spa. We’ve enjoyed an epic Saratoga meet and the final weekend will not disappoint. Start the long weekend right by remembering Saratoga’s early 12:30pm post Saturday through Monday.

SATURDAY – Four graded Saratoga stakes will be featured Saturday worth $1,450,000 highlighted by the grade 1 $600,000 Woodward and grade 1 $350,000 Spinaway.   There’s a $750,000 guaranteed Pick 4 at Saratoga beginning in Race 9 and NBC-TV coverage from 5:00pm-6:00pm of the Woodward and Spinaway.

“In addition to Liam’s Map, Pletcher will saddle multiple graded stakes winner Protonico, Grade 2 Brooklyn Invitational winner Coach Inge and Alydar Stakes runner-up Mylute in the 1 1/8-mile Woodward.    Owned by Teresa Viola Racing Stables, Liam’s Map is the least experienced of Pletcher’s runners but the most highly regarded as the 6-5 morning-line favorite.” NYRA release 9.2.15

“The regally bred Rachel’s Valentina will look to steal the spotlight when juvenile fillies get their final showcase at Saratoga Race Course as she makes her stakes debut in the Grade 1, $350,000 Spinaway on Saturday. The second foal out of 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, Rachel’s Valentina will face five gifted runners in the seven-furlong Spinaway, a “Win and You’re In” qualifier to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies this fall at Keeneland.” NYRA release 9.2.15

~ NY Weekend highlights…
FRIDAY
The summer comes to its climax this weekend beginning this Friday. The “Midsummer Derby”, better known as the Travers Stakes, has combined events and turned this weekend into the Travers Festival. Saratoga kicks off the weekend with a Summer NY Showcase card Friday, August 28 including six stakes races worth $1,150,000 all for NY breds. OTB & Interbets will offer advance wagering all day Friday on the Travers Stakes as well.  Check out the MSG broadcast this Friday too for the   Saratoga Insider: Travers Preview Show & NY Racing Series: Empire. Check your local listing, times still to be determined as of the writing of this newsletter.

SATURDAY – TRAVERS STAKES DAY & MORE!
Admission tickets for Saturday’s races were already sold out on track at Saratoga even before American Pharoah confirmed he’d be there.  Now that it’s turned into #Pharoahtoga you won’t find an empty seat in the house. Now more than ever OTB & Interbets are your best bet to catch the complete live simulcast of the full Saratoga card and wagering on it all.  Watch history in the making with us or will Saratoga, “Graveyard of Champions”, live up to its reputation? Will American Pharoah join Whirlaway in the history books by winning the Triple Crown races and The Travers?!

The Travers Stakes highlights a star-studded Saturday card at the Spa with six graded stakes and three guaranteed pools, Race 1 Pick 5 $400,000, Race 6 Pick 6 $250,000, and Race 8 Pick 4 $1,000,000. There’s also NBC-TV coverage from 4pm – 6pm including live coverage of the Sword Dancer and Travers Stakes. Saratoga’s first post is 11:45am. OTB opens at 11:15am.

Five of the Saratoga stakes are Breeders’ Cup Challenge Races for the Turf (Sword Dancer), Sprint (Forego),Filly & Mare Sprint (Ballerina), Distaff (Personal Ensign), and of course the Classic (Travers).

This Saturday, August 29 is also the launch date of the all new Parx Racing Fall Festival. The Festival continues through October 20, 2015. The track will double purse levels for each day of the entire 32 live dates. The Festival is created around the two signature race events, the grade 2 $1,000,000 Pennsylvania Derby and the grade 1 Cotillion Stakes. Increased field size, enhanced betting interest, and plenty of Festival fans are anticipated.

Harness players will want to get in on the Grand Circuit action this Saturday evening. Yonkers Raceway features the Hudson Filly Final (6th race) & Lady Maud Final (7th race) as well as the two Yonkers Trot eliminations (races 4th and 5th races). The Messenger has only eight declarations so it will be a one event race set for Sept 5 along with the Yonkers Trot Final. Mohawk Raceway features elimination races this Saturday, August 28 for the Metro Pace, She’s A Great Lady, and the Canadian Pacing Derby.

SUNDAY
Sunday is no slouch with plenty of sizzling stakes including the $100,000 Smart N Fancy at Saratoga, Phillip H. Islen at Monmouth and Torrey Pines Stakes at Del Mar. Harness players will find NYSS and Excelsior races at Batavia Downs, two Grand Circuit races at Tioga Downs, and after hours use your Interbets account to wager on the $1,400,000 KYSS races at The Red Mile.

~A N.Y. minute…
I think we can still hear them cheering at Belmont. I heard the cheers continued for about 10 full minutes from the time American Pharoah came down the stretch till well after the race was won.

Yonkers is still on their break until their scheduled return this Saturday evening. Yonkers announced that they will increase the guarantee on their already growing Pick 5 for this Saturday up to $60,000 guaranteed. The Pick 5 begins in race 7.  OTB will offer a Yonkers Contest too! See below.

~Harness Contests…
With the return of Yonkers eleven of our OTB branch locations will turn up the heat this Saturday evening by offering a Happy Hour Free Harness Handicapping Contest. It’s free to enter. Entries are available beginning at 6pm and may be entered up to post time of Yonkers’ second  race, approximately 7:30pm. Someone at each branch will win $25 in free bets! More details and find a location here:   http://www.interbets.com/racing/otb/news/3233/

In addition to the eleven OTB branches holding Handicapping Contests there’s another event! Two additional OTB branches will instead be playing The OTB Game. Saturday’s game is free to play. The game will be for Yonkers Race 5. There is a limited number of entries in this game to be held at the Nyack OTB and the Park Avenue Teletheater in Nanuet. One lucky player at each branch will win $10 in free bets! More details and find a location here: http://www.interbets.com/racing/otb/news/coming-up-promotions/
