Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – FRIDAY, November 28, 2014 at Aqueduct
By Bob Ehalt and Shawn Rychling

Hot List Key:

A: A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* – 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

1st race – (5) Lutheran Miss (C) has hit the board in 5 of 6, but we kind of expected a win by now.  That said, she goes third off a layoff here and was compromised by a wide trip last time. She also can run a little bit on the dirt in case this one is taken off the turf. (7) Dreaming as Always looks tough off her first two tries since she just may get a yielding course. (10) Maura’s Pass should contend if the race stays on the grass.  (6) Sakonnet Point has room to improve for Sheppard. (4) Shades of Indygo (B) is a main-track-only entrant and may be the one to beat if the race is moved. (11) Roman Reign is another one to watch on the main track.

4th race – (2) Ghost Swagger (B) moved forward nicely in the mud last time and should be ready to roll taking steep drop for third career start. (8) Richie’s Rich has a similar profile and takes an even steeper class tumble. (1) Face goes out for decent debut barn. (6) Wild Freud may improve making second start while shedding several pounds.

5th race – (9) Mach Seven (A) takes a healthy class drop and his most recent races are much better than what today’s rivals have been doing. (2) Ice Wagon drops to an all-time low off some relatively competitive efforts. (8) Myrlanski makes rare start for a tag and should fire best shot making third start off a 2 ½ year layoff. (3) Harley has improved in his last two and this is a third-off-the-layoff try.

6th race – (4) Bobby V. (A) steps up off the claim and off a near career-best figure. Likes the Aqueduct main track and sheds 9 pounds from his last start with good apprentice in the saddle. (5) Cherokee Artist cuts the claim price in half and may be the one to beat, but this does appear to be a fire sale. (6) Street Shark finds softer spot after a pair of OK tries in starter-allowance ranks. (1) Poliziano runs well over this surface and was claimed out of a win last time by decent first-off barn.

Best bets: Ghost Swagger (4th); Mach Seven (5th); Best value: Bobby V. (6th)

Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – SATURDAY, November 29, 2014 at Aqueduct
By Bob Ehalt and Shawn Rychling

Hot List Key:

A: A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* – 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race – (6) Vision of Mine (B) beat several of these rivals last time when adding blinkers when she was able to get the lead and hold it into deep stretch. Figures to try that tactic again and is well-positioned with outside post in a short field. (1) Wavell Avenue steps up after terrific wire-to-wire win in the slop, but that was a maiden claimer and an off-the-turf affair so she needs to validate that effort here. (3) Wraith has no problem hitting the board – winning is the problem.  That said her fastest race is probably enough to finish first here. (2) On a Snowy Evening ran her best-ever race last time off an 11-week layoff so she could certainly move forward in this start.

3rd race – (6) Fresh Feline (A) was solid last time off a layoff and might have won if she hadn’t gotten trapped behind a wall of horses from the ¼-pole in. (4) Sheza Heartbreaker (B) is a tough competitor and we are expecting nothing less than her best here. (9) Fashion Fund looks plenty fast enough and Euro experience means she should be able to handle any off going. (8) Winner’s Legacy(B) is eligible to move forward off the layoff.

7th race – (7) Waco (C) has flashed tremendous speed and is back in at preferred shorter distance after a nice freshening. (5) Celebrated Talent (C) has moved forward sharply since the Rice claim and has a huge chance here cutting back 1/16th and likely getting a fast track for a change. (1) Pulling G’s merits a long look off his first two starts. (3) Joking has the ability to rate and may take advantage of a pace meltdown if it occurs.

9th race – 101st running of The Remsen, Grade II – (2b) Market Conduct (B) ran his best race last time when stretching out to a mile and is better half of Chad Brown entry. (12) Frosted appears to be the best colt in the race entering off a 5-length, maiden-breaking win and he has remained sharp in the morning. But the widest post of all for first trip around two turns is quite a hurdle to clear. (10) Cassy Class was solid in his debut win and has also been burning up the track in morning workouts. (11) Ostrolenka has been fabulous against New York breds in his last two and Musket Man has been a dangerous sire this year.

10th race – 26th running of The Cigar Mile, Grade I – (1) Private Zone was second in this race last year after getting run down very late and we’ll take him at what may be decent value. (6) Secret Circle has never finished off the board in 12 career starts. He may like the sprints a little more, but his string of routes a while back were outstanding and Baffert wouldn’t be here if he didn’t think he had a shot. (2) Itsmyluckyday just didn’t have it in the Kelso and we have to think he is more suited to two turns which he does not get today.  That said, he is a strong win contender, but why take even money or less on him? (4) Vyjack has been steadily improving and his best races have come around one turn. (9) Bourbon Courage is worth a long look as he wanted more ground in the BC Sprint and this route around one turn just may suit him perfectly.

Best bets: Vision of Mine (2nd); Fresh Feline (3rd-turf only); Best value: Market Conduct (9th); Private Zone (10th)
