Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – FRIDAY, March 27, 2015 at Aqueduct
By Bob Ehalt and Shawn Rychling

Hot List Key:

A: A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* – 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race – (1) Miss Valued (A) steps up a notch after making a bold run in first race for a tag and should be a prime threat here third off a layoff. (5) Born to be Mild is eligible to improve adding the hood for third career try. (6) Bee Noteworthy goes out first time in a claimer as does (4) Devil’s Silent and both are eligible to improve in their second career starts.

4th race – (5) Rockin Jodi (C) was compromised by traffic and a wide trip last time and nearly rallied for the show so we’ll play her in anticipation of a cleaner trip this time. (3) Emily May Do It (C) equaled a career top last time while stepping up a notch and should be ready for best effort third off a layoff. (8) Dulce de Leche has been competitive and Linda Rice is good with horses stretching out around two turns. (9) Culminating has hit the board in three straight and adding Lasix for the first time may be the difference.

6th race – (7) Rich Dalone (A) ran a solid second in career best manner last time and figures to be sharp off a freshening. (10) Flat Leaver has been away since November, but enters off a bullet work for barn that can get a horse ready off the bench. (4) Call Me Stoney (B) missed the break last time and may rebound adding blinkers and dropping in first time for a tag. (9) Battle Notes has flashed speed before and faces the softest field of his short career.

8th race – (8) Son of a General (A) goes third off a layoff while in excellent form and gets upgrade in the saddle all while getting in five pounds lighter than his next heaviest rival. (2) Effinex is nothing if not inconsistent, but is facing the softest field he has seen in a while. (6) Coltimus Prime debuts for Clement and is dropping down after pair of graded stakes tries. (7) Integrity adds blinkers in debit for Rudy Rodriguez.

Best bets: Rockin Jodi (4th); Rich Dalone (6th); Best value: Miss Valued (2nd); Son of a General (8th)

Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – SATURDAY, March 28, 2015 at Aqueduct
By Bob Ehalt and Shawn Rychling

Hot List Key:

A: A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* – 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race – (9) Masterkey (a B last time) was cut off as the gate opened in his career debut and still managed to recover and run faster than most of today’s rivals ever have. Enters off a bullet work and normal second-start improvement will be enough to win. (1) Our Posse should be sharp in 3rd career attempt and will be a tough customer on return to debut form. (3) Gopher Jr sheds some weight while picking up top apprentice. (5) Sunny Afternoon drops a couple notches and adds blinkers for second career start.

3rd race – (3) Kleptocrat (C) has been knocking on the door since dropping to this level and should compete if she can avoid a wide trip. (2) Desert Spirit has two strong races under her belt in short career and appears to be lone speed in this field. (1) Soul Opposition (C) weaved her way through traffic to get fourth last time and should fire best shot third off the layoff. (4) Kimmies Lucky Star must be respected taking huge class drop.

6th race – (1) Organic Gemini (C) was second by 12 lengths last race and looks like the horse to beat. (3) Ex Ex Ex (B) was well-meant in debut, but had the rail which is tough spot for first-time starters. Shows two bullet works, including one just four days ago and is a sneaky value play here for barn that is better with horses that have a race under their belts. (8) True Bet (B) has improved with each start and only our top pick has run faster of late. (6) Suckitupbuster (A) looked like a winner before drifting out in the stretch last time.  Steps up here, but will be ready to fire in third career start after claim by solid outfit.

9th race – (8) Kodiak Kody (B) has disappointed us all winter, but had legitimate excuse last time when he was crunched leaving the gate.  Showed some late kick and merits a look as a value option today. (13) Eight Cents (C) needs a scratch to draw in and should compete if he runs as he enters off four straight seconds while dropping to bottom of claim ranks. (9) Pin and Win has been away since last July, but is dropping to an all-time low and has not been in for a tag since breaking his maiden 18 months ago. (3) Boss Daddy merits a look as he also drops to an all-time low. (5) Acigarisjustacigar (A) is worth using underneath at least since he ran his best race in nearly a year last time and returns to this low level.

Best bets: Kleptocrat (3rd); Organic Gemini (6th); Best value: Masterkey (2nd); Kodiak Kody (9th)
